UAE Regrets UN Security Council Inaction on Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates Mission to the United Nations has expressed deep regret over the failure of the United Nations Security Council to adopt a draft resolution addressing attacks on maritime navigation.

In a statement, the UAE criticized the Council’s inability to establish a clear framework to halt alleged attacks and threats by Iran targeting vessels and global trade routes, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE emphasized that the Strait must remain open and secure, warning that no country should be allowed to disrupt global trade or trigger an economic crisis.

Despite the setback, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to work with international partners to safeguard freedom of navigation and restore stability. It also thanked Bahrain for its leadership and diplomatic efforts within the Council.
