A total of 123 prisoners, who escaped during GenZ protests, are still on the run, according to the authority.

Police have recently arrested two prisoners who escaped from Gaur prison during the protests on Sept 8 and 9 in Rautahat District.

According to Police Sitaram Rijal, 29-year-old Dipesh Sah Sonar (also known as Seru Sah) of Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality-5, was arrested by Sarlahi police.

Sonar had been serving a 12-year sentence in a rape case and escaped the prison on the night of Sept 9, taking advantage of the unrest.

In a separate operation, police also arrested Aftab Ansari (24) of Dogau Municipality-3, who had escaped from the same prison during the protests while serving a sentence for theft. 

Ansari was apprehended from Pokhariya Tole, Gaur-3, based on a special tip-off and has been sent back to jail, police said.
