Clash in Bardiya leaves dozen police injured

At least a dizen of police personnel were injured in a clash with locals at Ganeshpur in Gulariya Municipality of Bardiya on Tuesday.

The clash broke out while the security personnel were trying to clear the road blocked during a protest against drug trafficking.
DSP Pramesh Bista of the District Police Office, Bardiya said that nine locals who attacked the police were taken into custody. 

The police also fired nine rounds of bullets into the air to control the situation.

Earlier a few days ago, Suresh Khatik and Bahuron Khatik, who fell unconscious while going to bed, were taken to a hospital but breathed their last during the course of treatment, according to DSP Bista. 

Locals suspect the deaths were caused by drugs.

Locals have been staging protests alleging that the drugs smuggled from India led to their deaths.
