Gautam of RSP wins in Makwanpur-1

Prakash Gautam of the RSP has won by more than double the votes in the House of Representatives constituency number-1 of Makawanpur by securing 36,033 votes.

He defeated Mahalaxmi Upadhyaya Dina of the Nepali Congress. Dina secured 14,038 votes. Rameshwor Rana of the CPN-UML, who came third in the race, secured 12,783 votes.

Deepak Bahadur Singh of the RPP, who was also the winner of the previous election, slipped to sixth place and settled for 4,574 votes. Similarly, Vijay Gautam of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) got 10,788 votes, Surendra Lama of the Ujjayaalo Nepal Party got 10,205 votes, and Bidya Shrestha of the Shram Sanskriti Party got 1,024 votes.

Dina has lost a direct election for the fifth time. She had entered parliament through proportional representation in the second Constituent Assembly election in 2014. NCP's Gautam contested the election for the first time.
