Nepali Congress has reclaimed Achham Constituency No. 1 after 26 years. Former district president Bharat Kumar Swar won with 10,758 votes, defeating NCP leader Bhim Bahadur Rawal by 528 votes.
UML’s Deepak Bahadur Saud came third with 7,386 votes, while RSP Om Prakash Rawal received 1,745 votes.
Swar is a veteran politician and skilled organizer. He entered active politics in 2034 BS, led anti-panchayat movements, and endured imprisonment for his activism. Achham-1 had mostly been a communist stronghold, except in 2048 and 2056, making Swar’s win a significant comeback for the Nepali Congress.
