Rs 160m allocated for Talcha–Gamgadhi road blacktopping

A budget of Rs 160m has been allocated for the blacktopping of the Talcha-Gamgadhi road under the Nagma-Gamgadhi road section, which was connected to the road network 13 years ago. The Karnali provincial government has allocated a budget with the goal of completing the blacktopping of the 9-kilometer section of the road within the fiscal year 2027/28. This road, which connects the district headquarters Gamgadhi to Rara Lake via Rara Airport in Talcha, has been causing problems for the general public and means of transport due to the problem of becoming muddy in the rainy season and dusty in the winter.

According to hotelier Prasad Chaulagain, after the road is blacktopped, most tourists who visit Rara will reach Gamgadhi and return, which is expected to support the tourism business of the district headquarters.

As per the provincial government’s policy of advancing plans for various districts of the province through a multi-year contract process, this plan has been taken forward based on the resource agreement allocated by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, Karnali Province in the fiscal year 2025/26.

It is stated that the necessary process has been taken forward as per the multi-year contract directive 2022. The total cost for blacktopping the 9-kilometer road of the Talcha-Gamgadhi section is estimated at Rs 159m.

Since it is the main route to Rara Airport and Rara Lake, the Chief Minister, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure have been requested repeatedly for the blacktopping of the road, and as a result, the budget has been ensured and the contract process has been taken forward, said Provincial Assembly member.
