Cathay officially kicked off its 80th anniversary celebrations as it steps into 2026, marking eight decades of connecting Hong Kong with the world since 1946. Under the theme “80 Years Together,” the airline will roll out a series of events and initiatives throughout the year to honour its heritage and future vision.
The celebrations began with the unveiling of a special anniversary livery on a long-haul Airbus A350, featuring the iconic green-and-white “lettuce leaf sandwich” design alongside the 80th anniversary mark. A similar livery on a Boeing 747 freighter will follow in the coming weeks.
Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam highlighted the airline’s deep ties with Hong Kong and reaffirmed its commitment to invest over HK$100bn in fleet upgrades, customer experience, and innovation. Vintage uniforms worn by cabin crew also paid tribute to Cathay’s service legacy
