Youths hurled water balloons and sprayed paint on the vehicle of CPN-UML leader and former minister Mahesh Basnet in Biratnagar on Sunday.

He was on his way to take part in a program in Itahari when the incident occurred this morning.

The youths also chanted slogans against Basnet.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.

The suspects have been identified as Arpit Kunwar (19) of Biratnagar-2 and Sanjog Gautam (25) of Biratnagar-1.

The situation is normal now.

Following the incident, police have tightened the security.

Earlier too, Gen Z youths had staged a demonstration outside Simara Airport when UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Basnet were scheduled to arrive in Simara to participate in a program.
