South Korea has issued a nationwide red alert after a new case of African swine fever (ASF) was confirmed at a pig farm in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi province, on Sunday night. This is the fifth outbreak reported this year, following the last case in July, Xinhua reported.

Quarantine authorities ordered a 48-hour standstill for pig farms and related facilities in Yeoncheon and nearby areas, effective until Tuesday evening. A quarantine team has been deployed to disinfect the site, restrict access, and cull affected pigs to contain the spread of the disease.
