The first National Mini Skate Marathon is to be organized on September 20. The Skate Land and the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association are jointly organizing the event.
The mini skate marathon will begin from Alapot of Sundarijal and conclude at Gokarna Talim Chowk, Kathmandu, covering a five-kilometer distance.
Founder of the Skate Land, Abrahim Rai, informed at a press conference on Tuesday that 200 players from Nepal, India and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) would participate in the competition.
It is the first national mini skating event being held in Nepal.
The player securing gold medal in the competition would receive skate shoes and safety gear along with Rs 50,000 cash prize, while the silver medalist would be provided skate shoes and safety gear along with Rs 30,000 cash prize. Similarly, the one winning bronze medal would be handed over skate shoes and safety gear along with Rs 15,000 cash prize.
It is said the best players from more than 300 skate parks which are in operation in Nepal at present and more than 50 players from India will participate in the competition.
Moreover, Chairman of the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association, Achyut Khanal, hoped the competition would prove to be a milestone for skating and skateboarding so that it would be developed as the professional sport in the future.
