1 killed, 6 injured in Nawalpur ambulance, school van collision

A person died and six others were injured when an ambulance and school van collided with each other at Dumkauli Chowk in Devchuli Municipality-2, Nawalpur on Monday.

The ambulance (Na 4 Cha 1646), carrying a patient, heading towards Narayangarh from Butwal collided head-on with the van (Ba 20 Cha 72) this morning, DSP Madhu Nepal said.

School van driver Kul Prasad Subedi (52) of Devchuli Municipality-1, who was critically injured in the incident, breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Old Medical College, Bharatpur, Chitwan, Nepal informed.

Laxmi Rai (36), Ishu Rai (25) and Sneha Pariyar (25) of Golpark, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Rupandehi, who were travelling in the ambulance were injured in the accident.

They have been sent to Chitwan for treatment, police said.

Similarly, two students—Ayusha Gautam (10) and Sokhniya Roka (6)—who were in the school van sustained minor injuries. They have returned home after receiving primary treatment at the local Bhabisya Polyclinic, according to police.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
