UWS Nepal hosts UK Aid Match R4: From Lessons Learned to Actions

UWS Nepal successfully hosted UK Aid Match R4: From Lessons Learned to Actions, celebrating the achievements of UK Aid Match Round 4 and unveiling its transformative new initiative, Zero Education Poverty on Monday.

On the occasion, Surya Karki, Country Director of UWS Nepal, reiterated the organization’s commitment to inclusive education, stating, “This event is not just about looking back at our impact, but about shaping the future of education. We are committed to ensuring that no child is left behind”

The event featured a high-level panel led by Narottam Aryal, President of King’s College, and panels representing local government from UWS’s working area. The panels addressed key priorities like policy reforms, digitalization, infrastructure development, and teacher training, reads a statement issued by UWS Nepal.

During the program, Municipal leaders praised UWS Nepal’s grassroots approach for its visible impact on student learning and parental engagement.

Further, in an experience-sharing session, municipal leaders commended UWS Nepal’s grassroots strategies for their success in boosting learning outcomes and engaging mothers and families in education. They advocated for a nationwide rollout of UWS Nepal’s holistic approach for sustainable impact.

A second panel discussion explored Nepal’s unseen educational crisis, focusing on foundational literacy, educational financing, and policy gaps.

Experts discussed critical issues in Nepal’s education system, ranging from foundational literacy to financing gaps and policy shortcomings, according to the statement.

Panelists emphasized the need for teacher training, local-language learning materials, parental engagement, integrated learning approaches and equitable teacher-student ratios. They emphasized scaling UWS Nepal's low-cost, community-driven model to ensure sustainable, inclusive education reform.
