Cycling from Chandigarh to Kathmandu

A total of 17 students (three girls) and five Teachers (three females) from Bhavan Vidyalaya School, Chandigarh India, cycled all the 1300 kms from Chandigarh to Kathmandu on their cycles. They left Chandigarh on May 27 and reached Kathmandu on June 3. They were led by Vijay Pal Singh, their Physical Fitness and Adventure teacher. Their team consisted of students from Class VI to XII. They cycled their way to Daffodil Public School at Nayapati (Sundarijal) from Thamel on June 4. They were received at the Gates by Ms. Manisha Mukhia, ECA Head and Ms. Tarala Sherpa, The School Supervisor and the captains of the school Council. An interaction program was held amongst the visiting cycling team and the teachers and the students of the Daffodil School. There was a short exchange of cultural programs and mementoes were exchanged between the schools.

The Bhavan Vidyalaya School Cycling Team of teachers and students were real messengers of peace and friendship and helped further in strengthening the ties between the peoples of two countries. The students of both schools were very happy and eagerly exchanged knowledge and information and embarked on the new path of lasting friendship. This exchange program has definitely helped in understanding and mutual respect between the citizens of both India and Nepal.
