The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has decided not to join the government led by the CPN (Maoist Center).
Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden said that though his party supported Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to become the prime minister, the RPP will not join the government.
“We are being urged to join the government. The government was formed by our support. The RPP will not join the government now. We just supported Dahal,” he said.
Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and RPP Chairman Lingden had also held a discussion outside the Parliament building on whether to join the government or not.
Maoist Center Chairman Dahal became prime minister with the support of seven parties including the CPN-UML on Sunday. President Bhandari appointed Dahal as the prime minister as per Article 76 (2) of the Constitution. He is taking the oath of office and secrecy at 4 pm today.
