Dahal discusses possible power sharing with Shrestha, Sapkota and Yadav

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has discussed possible power sharing with party’s Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Mahendra Raya Yadav. Lately, Dahal has been holding consultations with the leaders of various political parties to seek their support to become the prime minister. If everything goes as planned, Dahal will be the prime minister with the support of the current coalition. Otherwise, he is planning to be the prime minister with the support of CPN-UML and fringe parties, a CPN (Maoist Center) leader said.

During a meeting held in Khumaltar on Sunday morning, the leaders discussed ways to make Dahal the prime minister with the help of CPN-UML.

According to a source, UML politburo member Mahesh Basent held a meeting with Dahal on Saturday and urged him to be the prime minister with the support of the UML. Basnet also urged Dahal to start homework to form the government of the left alliance. The meeting of the ruling alliance held on December 5 had decided to give continuity to the coalition. At present, the Maoist leaders have intensified meetings and behind-the-curtain negotiations to form the new government under the leadership of the CPN (Maoist Center). Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Yadav had won the election to the House of Representatives with the election symbol of the CPN (Maoist Center). He emerged victorious in Sarlahi-2 by defeating Rajendra Mahato. During the meeting, Yadav said he took the proposal of Dahal in a positive way. Dahal had held a meeting with Prabhu Sah on Thursday as well. Prior to that, he held separate meetings with Resham Chaudhary, Janamat Party Chairman and lawmaker CK Raut.
