Nepal general elections: Voter turnout stood at 61 percent

The voter turnout for the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly held today stood at 61 percent, the Election Commission said. The voting that started from 7 am today concluded at 5 pm. Voting was conducted in a peaceful and enthusiastic manner across the country, sparing some general incidents, according to the EC.

In Madhes Province, voting was conducted in all polling centers without any postponement.

Voting process was obstructed in Bajura, Surkhet, Taplejung, Nawalparasi (Susta Purba), Gulmi and Dolakha among other districts following disputes among the cadres of various political parties.
