Two persons died when a truck hit a scooter at Basundhara in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Bel Bahadur Rana Magar (47) and Kalpana Rana Magar (47) of Pokhara Metropolitan City-9, Kaski. The truck (Na 8 Kha 1841) heading towards Basundhara from Narayangopal Chowk hit the scooter (Bagmati Province 02-032 Pa 2227) last night.

SP Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Office, said that the duo, who were critically injured in the incident, breathed their last during the course of treatment at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Bhatta said that the incident occurred due to overspeeding. Police said that they have taken truck driver Ram Hamal (25) of Chitwan for investigation.
