3 killed, 12 injured in Pyuthan jeep accident

Three persons died and 12 others were injured when a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident in Pyuthan on Tuesday. According to Inspector Sushil Thapa Magar, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Pyuthan, said that the deceased have been identified as Khuman Thapa (46), his wife Junaki Thapa (46) and Mahima Gharti (52) of Patalkateri of Pyuthan Municipality-5. The jeep (Lu 1 Ja 3707) was heading towards Purnagaun from Bijuwar of the district when the tragedy took place last night.

Police said that Phaguni Khatri (50), Gori Gharti (50), Biri Kumari Mahara (19), Dilaram Gharti Chhetri (52), Nima Khatri (34), Juthi Mahara (30), Kumari Mahara (18), Nakhi Mahara (41), Gori Khatri (47), Nimlal Gharti (37), Jagma Mahara (34) and Rame Roka (58) of Pyuthan Municipality-5 were injured in the incident.

Among the injured, six are receiving treatment at the Bijuwar Hospital in the district and six others, who were seriously injured in the incident, have been referred to Butwal. Police said that the four-wheeler fell some 200 meters down the road.
