Eight persons died and five others were injured when a landslide triggered by torrential rainfall buried two houses in Chhayanath Rural Municipality-11 of Mugu district on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Gaurikala Bohara (82), Sushmita Bhagri (19), Hojali Bhagri (30),  Bir Bahadur Bhagri (54), Chakra Bir Bohara (15), Sakka Bahadur Sawat (20), Krishna Sawat (20), and Hajira Bhagri (60). Ward Chairman Kunjuma Kumai said that locals are searching for those buried in the landslide.

DSP Subash Humal of the District Police Office, Mugu said that security personnel have not been able to reach the incident site as the landslides and floods washed away all the roads and bridges connecting to the place.

Locals said that hundreds of families of Bhambada, Dhuma, Karkibada Pina, Tuma, Balai Ghuir, Jhyari, Topla, and Kotali of Chhayanath Rara Municipality have been displaced following the water-induced disaster.
