CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal filed his candidacy from Gorkha-2. Nepal Socialist Party Chairman Baburam Bhattarai proposed his nomination while Maoist Center senior Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha seconded the proposal. The party has decided to field Dahal from Gorkha-2 after Bhattarai decided not to contest the election under the first-past-the-post system.

Earlier, Dahal was recommended from Chitwan-3.

He was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the same constituency in the previous election. CPN-UML’s Abdus Miya is vying against Dahal in this election constituency.
