Three persons were electrocuted while fishing in various places of Jhapa district. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Kamal Barayeli (32) of Yangbarak Rural Municipality-6, Panchathar died of electrocution while fishing at a stream in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-3. Critically injured in the incident, he was rushed to the local City Hospital. Later, he was referred to the B and C Hospital for further treatment where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Similarly, Om Bahadur Thamsuhang (61) of Haldibari Rural Municipality-5 died on the spot after receiving electric shock while fishing at the Bhuteni River.

Likewise, Santa Chaudhary (47) of Dhaijan, Mechinagar-11 was electrocuted while fishing at the Hadiya River in Mechinagar Municipality-5. The District Police Office, Jhapa said that he breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Amda Hospital in Dhulabari. Police said that they are looking into all the cases.
