A person died after being hit by a jeep in Koshi Rural Municipality-5, Sunsari.

The deceased has been identified as Shrawan Kumar Mehta (18) of Koshi-7, DSP Narendra Kumar Karki of the District Police Office, Sunsari said.

He said that the jeep (Ko 2 Cha 3992) rammed into a roadside tree after it hit Mehta, injuring six others traveling in the four-wheeler.

Critically injured in the incident, he was rushed to the Birat Hospital in Biratnagar but breathed his last during the course of treatment, police said.

The injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital. Two are said to be in critical condition.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
