The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 73rd Republic Day of India amidst a function on January 26.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra hoisted the national flag and read out the message of President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion.
The Ambassador felicitated war widows and relatives of the deceased soldiers by disbursing their dues of NRs. 6.35 crore and blankets, according to a press statement issued by Embassy.
The celebration was part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence and remarkable achievements by Indians in all spheres of human endeavor, the statement says.
As part of the celebrations, many events will be held throughout the year and till August 2023.
In order to mark 75 years of diplomatic relation between two countries, it is planned to inaugurate 75 development projects implemented with India’s assistance across the provinces and districts of Nepal this year. The Embassy has also planned to gift 75 ambulances and school buses to various organizations and local authorities across Nepal.
