605 arrested with drugs in Madhesh Province

Madhesh Province has been turning into a hotbed for drug smuggling of late.

According to the statistics of Nepal Police, more than three persons are arrested every day with drugs in Madhesh Province, which shares an open border with India.

As many as 605 persons were arrested with drugs in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

SP Tul Bahadur Karki, spokesperson at the Madhesh Province Police Office, 594 men and 11 women were apprehended with drugs from all the eights districts of the province from July to December.

Police recovered 1,719 kg marijuana, 134 grams of brown sugar, 46 kg hashish and 83 grams of heroin among other pharmaceutical drugs within this period, SP Karki said.
