Don’t lump us with main opposition
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), unlike the main opposition CPN-UML, had not asked for the resignation of PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal over his remark about an Indian entrepreneur’s effort to make him PM by soliciting New Delhi’s support. We had opposed the remark nonetheless.
The Bill related to loan sharks was under consideration in the Parliament when UML chose to stall it. I, along with fellow RSP lawmakers Shishir Khanal and Ganesh Parajuli, had filed an amendment proposal so as to get the Bill through. We had asked the UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party to launch their protest only after the passage of the Bill, to no avail.
Sharing the opposition bench with UML doesn’t mean RSP has no identity. UML is not the only face of the opposition. We have never been part of a closed-door setting between the opposition and the government. We have our own vision and identity.
