Lawmakers raise concern over footpath delivery

Members of the House of Representatives (HoR) have drawn attention of the government towards a woman's compulsion to give birth to a child on the footpath in front of a hospital.

She was reported to have no money for managing delivery at the health facility in Rajbiraj, Saptari.

Speaking in the urgent hour of today's HoR meeting, they commented that though the constitution has guaranteed fundamental rights related to basic health, it is unfortunate to see such a situation in the country.

On the occasion, Khagendra Karna demanded that the Health Minister should brief the House about the matter that a deprived woman was forced to manage delivery on footpath- that too in front of the hospital.

Similarly, Ankita Thakur mentioned that the situation depicts a horrible condition of the state system, for it egregiously violates the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution.
