As many as nine road sections in various parts of the country have been completely blocked due to landslides, caving of the road and river erosion triggered by incessant rainfall.

According to a notice released by Nepal Police today, vehicular movement along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi-Sindhuli section of the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli districts has been halted from 6 pm  to 4 am, considering the risk of flood. 

However, vehicles will be allowed to operate on this road section from 4 am to 6 pm.

Likewise, traffic movement along the Kanti Lokpath in Makawanpur district has been restricted from 5 pm to 5 am. 

Likewise, the Mechi Highway in Ilam district has been blocked after the road turned muddy at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 due to rainfall.

Furthermore, the Araniko Highway has been completely obstructed at Iku in Bhotekoshi Rutal Municipality-2, Sindhupalchok district, following a landslide of rocks, soil and debris. 

A road section has also subsided at Liping in the same rural municipality leading to complete closure of the Highway, police added.  

In Rasuwa district, the Trishuli River has eroded the road beneath the Pasang Lhamu Highway at Khalte in Uttar Gaya Rural Municipality-5, disrupting traffic along the Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubehi road section.

Moreover,  the Bheri Corridor in Rukum West district, Besisahar-Manang road in Lamjung district and Beni-Jomsom road in Myagdi district and Khandbari-Kimathanka road section along the Koshi Highway in Sankhuwasabha district have also been blocked by rain-triggered landslides or road subsidence, shared police. 

Amidst this, the Nepal Police have urged passengers to take stock of the road conditions before travelling and observe necessary precautions.
