Indian Army Chief Dhiraj Seth is arriving in Kathmandu at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Sigdel later this afternoon.

He will be in Nepal for four days. 

During his stay, Seth is scheduled to receive an insignia of honorary general of Nepal Army to be conferred by President Ram Chandra Paudel in a special ceremony on Monday, according to spokesperson of the Nepali Army, Rajaram Basnet.

A bilateral meeting has also been scheduled between the army Chiefs Seth and Sigdel at NA Headquarters on Monday itself.

The military relation, which is cordial and historic between Nepal and India, has been subsisting for a long time. 

High level visits, joint military exercise, training and exchange of experiences have further strengthened the relations between the militaries of the two countries. 

The tradition of conferring the title of honorary general to the two countries' army chiefs reflects special relations between Nepal and India's militaries and governments. The tradition, begun in 1950, symbolizes a milestone in friendly relations between Nepal and India.
