Former Deputy Prime Minister and CPN-UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been sentenced to four years in prison in the Bhutanese refugee scam. 

The Kathmandu District Court today imposed a four-year prison sentence along with a fine of Rs 40,000 to Rayamajhi. 

A single bench of Judge Tej Bahadur Khadka announced the sentence. 

Similarly, former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand has been sentenced to two-years in prison along with a fine of Rs 20,000. 

They were found guilty of abusing their authority, forging government documents, involving in fraud and organized crime.

In the same case, Bhutanese freedom fighter Teknath Rijal has been sentenced to two years in prison along with a fine of Rs 20,000 for misusing government documents, and being involved in fraud and organized crime. 

Similarly, Keshav Prasad Dulal, Gyanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Dr Indrajit Rai, Govinda Kumar Chaudhary, Angdeva Sharma and Tanka Narayan Pandey have been sentenced to four years in prison along with a fine of Rs 40,000 each.

In the high profile case, Shamsher Miya, Haribhakta Maharjan, Niranjan Kumar Kharel and Narendra KC have been sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
