Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Speaker of House of Representative (HoR) Dol Prasad Aryal.

During the meeting, Speaker Aryal expressed gratitude for the logistical support during the election. Aryal said that Nepal and India have a close relation on the basis of civilization, geographical proximity, cultural and social ties and stated that expanding connectivity through civil aviation, rail and bus services would further strengthen the relations between the two countries and expressed his hope that more flights, rail and bus routes would be expanded in the future.

Speaker Aryal informed that he sent an invitation and was ready to welcome Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, India to visit Nepal and said that a 10-member Nepal-India Parliamentary Group was formed which is expected to provide new momentum to inter-parliamentary cooperation. 

Ambassador Srivastava informed that Speaker Om Birla is interested to visit Nepal and invited Aryal and MPs of Nepal to India for the study and observation of their parliamentary practices.

Aryal appreciated India’s move on  digital solutions and tech-friendly practices like ‘National E-Bidhan Application’ which helps in effective, transparent and accessible parliamentary processes expressing the expectation of knowledge sharing from these achievements.

Speaker Aryal and Ambassador Srivastava, both expressed the importance of coordination and support between two countries where Aryal said that Nepal and India will continue to work together for shared peace, prosperity, and progress through mutual cooperation and partnership.

Similarly, Srivastava also expressed confidence and said that the Government of India was committed to continuous cooperation in expanding trade, connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties.
